Education is undergoing a transformation, fundamentally a revolution, a digital revolution. The challenge is to allow modern day learners too embrace better ways of working aligned to the way we work today. Gone are the days where everything has to be done in a classroom. Gone are the days when we have to be in the office nine to five - flexible home working is becoming common place. Geography is changing too - does it matter where you learn, at least if not some of the time? Sure, there is a balance between traditional ways of interacting in a classroom and through genuine dialogue, but there is also a reality that the digital age is here to stay and learning on-line deserves to be embraced with all the benefits it can bring. In practice we are talking about a revolution in technology changes that have been made possible over recent years and that it is facilitating new and better ways of working .. and the tools have tipped to a point of being usable and affordable for all in society and improving every day.

The challenge is for all learners and schools to fully embrace the changes. There are so many reasons for those that are not there yet; awareness, readiness for change, fear, lack of skills, confidence, belief, management capability .. We know it will take years overall to achieve. Wherever you might be right now, it seems inevitable that changes in the digital revolution have to be embraced at some point soon. Perhaps it is worth thinking about what is going on elsewhere in the world.
